About the team Legal Operations is one of the fastest growing areas in the legal services sector and crucial to any innovative firm. As a Legal Operations Graduate, you’ll utilise the benefits of technology and data to improve legal services and deliver cost certainty for our clients.
Foundational training in major disciplines
 This training course was designed specifically for Legal Operations professionals, covering the practical application of legal project management, process design, pricing, digital transformation, automation and innovation. You'll also gain a broader understanding of the Legal Operations context and the markets in which we operate.

Practical experience
 During the 18-month program, you'll rotate through three core areas in Legal Operations, including Legal Project Management; Pricing & Analytics; Legal Transformation or Client Advisory. Supported by close supervision and training, you’ll work on real-world client and internal matters and develop your knowledge through in-team assignments.
Skills for your future career
 As a Legal Operations Graduate, you'll be fully immersed into the Legal Operations team. Successful completion of the program will qualify you as a Legal Operations Analyst, where you’ll leverage your skills for client and lawyer benefit. However, your journey won’t end there. At Herbert Smith Freehills, you’ll receive ongoing training and mentorship to continue developing your capabilities and career at the firm.

Applying to the programme
 Applications for the January 2024 program are open until 16 April 2023. We welcome graduates from any discipline who possess strong systems skills, lateral thinking, and an ability to learn new systems. A minimum 2:1 degree and fluency in English is required. Ideally, you’ll also speak some Mandarin. The application and selection process will start with an online application. We will invite successful applicants to an assessment centre that will consist of:

  • Two interviews with members of the Legal Operations leadership team and a commercial case study.
